One big help with IE7 is to also install Microsoft's User Agent String Utility. It lets you launch IE7 but it acts like it is IE6, so you can use the Visual Text Box Editor and other things that don't normally work with IE7.
You can find the User Agent String Utility at http://snipurl.com/11awt
If you have trouble with that snipped address, the complete Microsoft address is: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9517db9c-3c0d-4
7fe-bd04-fad82a9aac9f&displaylang=en
The User Agent String Utility just sits on your desktop. When you launch User Agent String Utility, it launches IE7 in IE6 mode. When you launch IE7 normally, it is in IE7 mode.
Many thanks to Bill Vilberg for this tip.
